Before you start

To keep the community clean, straightforward, and enjoyable, there are a few baseline expectations for anyone who wants to join. These are not harsh requirements—most of them are simply basic abilities you should already have.

Please make sure you meet the following before getting started:

  1. Be patient.
  2. Be able to read documentation carefully.
  3. Don’t rely on others to do everything for you; you should know how to search for information online.
  4. Be willing to think through problems and solve them yourself instead of asking the group immediately whenever something comes up. The available documentation already covers most common issues, so read it first.
  5. Be able to make your own spending decisions.
  6. Do not use cheats, trainers, or other modifications in-game. Whether someone does or not may not always be detectable, so this ultimately comes down to honesty.

If you are comfortable with all of the above, you can move on to downloading Terraria and connecting to the server.

Downloading Terraria on Android

The Android version can be obtained directly from the group files:

Group Chat > Group Files > Terraria > Terraria_1.4.4.9.apk.**1**

How to install an .apk.1 file

In newer QQ versions released in recent years, APK files are forcibly renamed to .apk.1, which prevents many users from installing them normally.

To work around this, first install MT Manager. You can find it either in an app store or through a browser search.

After installing MT Manager, open it and go to:

/storage/emulated/0/Android/data/com.tencent.mobileqq/tencent/QQfile_recv

Find the .apk.1 file you downloaded. Tap it, then in the popup window tap “Type” in the lower-left corner and switch it to All.

The exact options may vary depending on your phone model. On an OPPO phone, for example, you can scroll down on that page until you find something like “Package Installer”. Tap that to enter the installation screen. Approve all prompts, wait a moment, and the game should install successfully.

Other phone brands are broadly similar, so if the wording is different, try looking for an option with a similar meaning.

If you cannot access /Android/data

Starting with Android 11, access to directories such as Android/data requires authorization. Starting with Android 14, the usual authorization route was blocked. In the February 2024 security update, Google applied this restriction more broadly across Android 11, 12, 12L, 13, and 14. If your phone’s security update date in Settings > About phone is February 2024 or later, you may run into this issue.

If that happens, use this cloud link instead. Make sure you download the file whose extension is .apk.

Downloading Terraria on PC

The PC version can also be downloaded from the group files or from cloud storage:

https://pan.quark.cn/s/856451f8f210

After downloading the archive, extract it first. Inside the extracted folder, double-click setup_terraria_v1.4.4.9_v4_(60319).exe to run it.

In the installer window, you can set the installation path in the lower-left corner. Choose the location you want, accept the agreement, and wait for the installation to finish. On some computers this may take a bit longer, so be patient.

How to join the server

Using the PC version as the example: once the game is installed, create a character. After that, return using the button in the lower-left corner, then open Multiplayer and choose the top Join option.

Enter the IP address provided in the group announcement, then enter the port.

On mobile, you should enter the address by appending an English colon directly before the port.

Registration and login

To keep the server fair, forced progression is enabled. That means when you enter the server, your inventory is reset to the default loadout defined by the server configuration: a short sword, a copper pickaxe, and a copper axe. Even if you join with a fully progressed endgame character, you will still have to start over from scratch.

After connecting, you will notice that you cannot move, break blocks, pick up items, and so on. That is because you have not registered yet.

Open the chat bar and enter the command in this format:

/register <password>

For example, if my password is 114514, I would enter:

/register 114514

After registering, open the chat bar again and log in with:

/login username password

For example:

/login yingyu5658 114514

Once you have logged in successfully on the same device, you will not need to log in again next time.

At that point, you are ready to start playing.
