How this started
One day, we finally remembered why we started this blog in the first place: postcards.
This time, though, it’s not a postcard exchange. We simply want to mail postcards to anyone who would like one, as a small way to mark our first wedding anniversary. ~~Yes, this may be a little self-indulgent.~~
Really, we just want to share our happiness. In theory, we should have done something like this around the time of our wedding last year, but it never occurred to us back then.

There’s another reason too: through these postcards, we hope to be carried to places we’ve never been.
About the postcard event
- Event name: Guanguan & Liuliu’s Anniversary Postcard Journey
- Start date: August 18, 2023
- End date: When all postcards have been mailed out
- Total quantity: 35 postcards in total
- How it works: We will mail postcards to anyone who joins voluntarily. Participation means leaving a comment under the post with a keyword such as “join,” and then we’ll contact you directly by email.
- Postcard style: The postcards are printed on 300g white cardstock using landscape photos we took during a trip to Yunnan at the end of June. Designs are sent at random and cannot be chosen.
- What we’ll write: You can give us a prompt if you want—maybe ask us to talk a little about hobbies, food, places, or whatever’s on our mind. If you don’t request anything specific, we’ll share the story behind the photo from the day it was taken.
A few practical details
If you’d like to take part, the first thing to confirm is whether your address can receive regular mail. In general, as long as the address is clear, delivery should be possible. We have faith in the postal system.
Once that’s settled, all you need to do is leave a comment with something like “I want to join.” After that, we’ll reach out using the email address you left with your comment. We’ll ask for your mailing address and phone number, since the postal carrier may call if they have trouble finding the location.
Please be careful when replying: only trust emails sent from our own domain email address. If the message doesn’t come from us, don’t give out your address casually.
Cost and shipping
There is no cost to participate. Postage is paid by the sender, and we already have the stamps prepared.
As a small note, sending a postcard within mainland China costs 0.8 RMB nationwide, excluding Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan. So if anyone ever claims to represent us and asks you for money, please do not pay them.
People outside China are also welcome to join. We already have international stamps on hand, and we’d be very happy to send one abroad too.
Our plan is to mail postcards once each weekend, sending out all the ones from that week together.
When to expect delivery
Based on our past experience:
- Within China: usually 3 to 5 days
- International mail: usually 7 to 20 days
Of course, postal delivery can vary, so these are only rough estimates.
After you receive it
You don’t need to do anything at all.
If you feel like it, you’re welcome to leave a message saying it arrived. And if you happen to want to ~~ramble a bit~~ write something about it, that would be lovely too. In any case, thank you for your interest.
If it never arrives
Lost mail does happen, so that possibility can’t be ruled out.
If you’ve waited a long time and still haven’t received your postcard, please contact us. Our original idea was to photograph each postcard before sending it so we’d have a record—but, well... we forgot to do that, so that part may not actually be possible. Still, we can follow up and send another one later, though the design might be different.
All contact information and related records will be deleted after the event ends. If anything hasn’t been covered here, we hope for your understanding.
Mailing progress
All 35 postcards have been sent.
